Discipleship

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20

Personal Discipleship

We believe in order to make disciples you must first be a disciple.  The word disciple simply means learner.  To learner or be a disciple of Christ you must spend time with him in his word and in prayer.  As a church we have a daily reading plan that takes less than 10 min a day.  Our pastor has put simple short paragraph for each day explaining what you will be reading.  The reading plan is set to take you through the Bible in a year and a half.  To join the church reading plan just download the church app and make sure allow notifications for Church Reading Plan.

There is no magic formula or dos and don’ts when it comes to reading the Bible and praying.  The best reading plan is the one you actually read.  The best prayer is one from your heart.  Our prayer as a church is that you simply seek to know God and be transformed by his word daily.  If you don’t know where to start or want to do what the disciples did seek a small group of people to grow with.

Discipleship Groups

Mission

To be obedient to the call of Christ in Matthew 28:19-20. Equipping and facilitating the making of disciples by disciples in our local body of believers. In doing so knowing that the Lord will call and send believers out from inside our local body.

Follow the model given by not only Paul, Timothy and Barnabas but also Jesus himself. Jesus had 12 disciples but he poured most of his time and energy in to his inner circle of 3 men (Peter, James and John).

Outline

Group of 3-5 people of the same gender willing to commit to meet weekly for 1.5 hours. The meetings are suggested to happen on Sundays at 3:30 either at the church, restaurants/coffee shops or houses around town. Sunday’s are already set aside and meeting times are the biggest challenge after creating a group.  The the sole purpose is to hold each other accountable to spend time in the word daily, time in prayer daily, memorizing scripture and staying pure according to scripture.

Family Discipleship

If you are a parent family discipleship is a must as a follower of Christ.  If we as parents truly believe and follow Jesus then we will lead our family in learning and knowing him more.  There are many resources we have as a church family.  The first is corporate worship which most already do.  This is showing our family that we believe and find value in worshiping our savior as a church.  For many though this is where it ends and it really shouldn’t.

If your kids only see you going to church on Sunday then no matter what they read or are told that will be what they see as what Christianity is and means.  We as parents are our kids leaders and role models wether we like it our not.  If they see and hear you pray and not just one meals then they will see that as important.  If they see you read your bible more than just at church then they will see and know that it is important to you.

We believe that having a family devotion time be it over a meal, before bed or even while driving down the road is where we are parents show our children that the christian life is not just about going to church.  One of the great resources we have at our church is RightNow Media.  Think of it as Netflix for followers of Christ.  There are kids shows, bible studies and much more ready to stream and free to all members.  Click below to sign up or learn more.
