Day 8 - Read Genesis 15-16

God spoke to Abram in a vision and told him He would protect him and provide him a natural heir. God promised Abram offspring that would number as the stars. Abram believed, and it was credited to him as righteousness. God cut a covenant with Abram and promised him a great land. Abram’s wife (Sarai) had no children at this time, so she suggested he sleep with one of her servants (Hagar) and produce descendants. Abram agreed and married the servant. Hagar despised Sarai after becoming pregnant. Sarai mistreated Hagar. An angel appeared to Hagar as she was fleeing and told her to go back and submit to her mistress (Sarai). The angel told her to name her child Ishmael and that her son would be a man of war and hostility.
