Day 6 - Read Genesis 11-12

The people determined to make a name for themselves. God confused their language, so they did not understand each other. As a result, this place was named Babel. Abram was a descendant of Shem. God told Abram to leave Haran and go to a place God would show him. God promised to bless him and make him a great nation. God promised the land of the Canaanites (Shechem) to Abram’s offspring, then Abram built an alter to God. Abram and Sarai traveled to Egypt because of a famine. Abram asked Sarai to pretend to be his sister because he believed the Egyptians would desire her and kill him. Pharaoh took Sarai as his wife and was afflicted with great plagues. Pharaoh told Abram to take Sarai and leave.
