Day 9 - Read Genesis 17

God promised Abram that he would be the father of many nations. He changed Abram’s name to Abraham, and Sarai’s name to Sarah. God made a covenant with Abraham to give him the land of Canaan. God commanded that all Abraham’s descendants keep the covenant. God told Abraham to circumcise all males as a sign of the covenant. Baby boys were to be circumcised on the eighth day. Any male who was not circumcised would be cut off from his people. God promised Abraham a son with Sarah (Isaac). Abraham and Sarah were beyond the years of childbirth. God told Abraham the covenant would continue through the offspring of Isaac, but He also blessed Ishmael and promised to make him into a great nation.
